Joint Environmental Trust (JET) (Historic Buildings Grant; Shop Front Grants and Environmental Grants)
The Trust is operated by Abingdon Town Council and jointly financed with the Vale of White Horse District Council. The meetings are open to the public, and are held in the town council offices four times a year. The purpose of the scheme is to help preserve the best of the physical character of Abingdon, and to help improve its environment. It can do this in several ways by offering financial help to individuals or voluntary organisations towards the cost of restoring their historic buildings, improving their shop fronts or carry out environmental improvements. The council is also able to initiate and implement its own improvement schemes.
