Bee keeping
Vale and Downland Beekeepers Association
Meetings of the association are for beekeepers and also for anyone interested in finding out more and learning about the plight of bees and their needs. Please do not treat bees as a pest if a swarm is found as advice can be given and a bee keeper can often assist. Meetings are normally near Wantage early evenings on the first Wednesday of the month. Chair Lilian Valentine 01235 767524 can provide further information. http://home.btconnect.com/fyfebeeweb/about_bees.html

Birds
The local RSPB group has a fascinating programme of talks, observations and other outings. Meetings are in Steventon Village Hall south of Abingdon each third Monday in the month from September to May at 7.45pm. Visitors and members of other naturalist and RSPB groups can pay £3 to enter - please arrive in advance.
http://www.rspb-vwh.org.uk/ has the programme for the year. Abingdon Naturalists Society also has some sessions on bird life.
