AAAHS 50th Anniversary - Children's activities

In celebration of the AAAHS 50th anniversary there will be a number of children and famliy activities taking place at Abingdon Museum to help explain and explore archaeology in Abingdon.


Be an archaeologist! take part in object sorting in the Kempster Room, and then experience handling real artifacts in the first floor gallery with guidance from Oxford Archaeology staff, AAAHS members and volunteers. Children can also become archaeologist explores with the 'I-Spy quiz', look for bits of broken pot and bones and find out all about them.

These activities are suitable for accompanied children of all ages.

Time: morning session 10:30 am - 12:30 pm ¦ afternoon session 1.30 - 3.30 pm

Location: First Floor Gallery and Kempster Room. Please note that the Sessions Gallery is only accessible by stairs.


Other activities available throughout the exhibition are children's colouring sheets and 'Abingdon's Hidden Archaeology Trail'. This is for families and adults alike, to venture into Abingdon town centre and see sites where archaeological discoveries have been made by AAAHS.
