Abingdon's Early Transport links. What happened to the railway?

Wednesday, 25 April 2018 - 7:15pm

A talk by Caroline Bullock

  • How did people move around the area in early times?
  • Where were the main routes for them to follow?
  • When industrialisation came, how were the raw materials/goods transported to/from Abingdon?
  • Where could Abingdon people go on a day trip?

Caroline will be supported by Martin Buckland of the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust and Ivan Cadge with his model of Abingdon station.

Entrance is free but donations towards the work of the Friends of Abingdon would be appreciated. After the talk there will be light refreshments (small charge) in the Checker and a chance to view the Buildings.

Please note there is no parking at the Abbey Buildings but pick-up and drop-off is possible for people with limited mobility. Please contact the Curator on 01235 525339 if you are unsure about accessibility.
