Battle's over

Sunday, 11 November 2018 - 11:00am

After the 10.00 am Remembrance Day service there will be a two- minute silence at 11.00 am exactly 100 years after the Armistice at the end of the First World War.

In the evening, The Battle’s Over: will be a unique commemoration of the centenary of the end of the First World War on 11th November in the United Kingdom. Oxfordshire parish churches will join in “ringing out for peace” on that evening. New Bellringers have been recruited one for each of the bellringers who died in the war.

Battle’s Over Ringing Out For Peace will have information out on all media for an evening event. Battle’s Over Guide can be viewed online at http://www.brunopeek.co.uk/Battles-Over-Guide.pdf">http://www.brunopeek.co.uk/Battles-Over-Guide.pdf ) for full details of the nationwide programme.

Following this the local villages and our town will be involved in the national chain of lighting of beacons across the land. Gather on Market Place prior to 7.00 pm and please check the News on this site beforehand.
