Community Led Plan

Abingdon -on-Thames Town Council supports a Community Led plan

People living in and around Abingdon-on-Thames are being urged to help forge its future. Everyone in the area is invited to get involved with "Abingdon For All," the Community Led Plan that the Town Council agreed to support at its meeting on 29th March 2017.

A Community Led Plan is being developed for Abingdon-on-Thames. The community led planning process enables residents to develop a shared vision for the long-term sustainability of the community and how it should develop over the next five to ten years. The Plan can be used to influence local area planning decisions, support funding applications and influence service providers. People will be able to have their say on a wide range of topics and identify what they feel is important to the future and wellbeing of their community.

Abingdon- on -Thames Town Council would like to invite you share your thoughts about how Abingdon could develop over the next few years. At a series of events that will take place over the coming months residents will be able to put forward their ideas about how they would like to see the town develop.

Chairman of the Community Led Plan Steering Group Cllr. Alice Badcock said:

“Work is gathering pace on the Community Led Plan and we would urge people to come forward to share their views and to get involved. We are keen to hear from as many people as possible who live or work in the town and from people of all ages and all sections of our community

“We invite you to attend one of the drop-in events across the town:

  • The Abbey Buildings on Tuesday 5th September between 4pm and 7pm.
  • Preston Road Community Centre on Saturday 16th September between 2pm and 4 pm.

“If you are unable to come to an event please give us your views by completing a survey.

“Surveys will be available in a variety of forms in September – please look for further information around the town and in the press.

We will then report the findings and discuss the next steps at an event in October.

You will also be able to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on the website for updates.”
