Enjoy the Marketplace

Abingdon-on-Thames is a market town that still proudly upholds the tradition of the Market Place as a focus of town life. The Market Place is central, easily reached, and is the scene of important occasions and music festivals but also of weekly and monthly markets, fairs and community events. On any day of the week it's a lovely place to drink tea or a cappuccino in the sunshine, catch up with friends or plan a day out in the town and surrounding area.

There are activities all year round, including in Winter, with more in the May to October period 

Market Day is Monday, our local farmers' markets are third Fridays.

Local clubs and societies are encouraged to use the area to promote their groups. Sort out your date and apply, when this is agreed obtain a licence to fundraise. Click here  for further details on how to book the Market Place for your event. You need agreement and proof of having insurance before applying for any licence please.

Please plan in advance and check dates well ahead with Abingdon-on-Thames Information. The office is currently in the Sessions gallery of Old County Hall Museum, open Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 am to 3.00pm. This is during building improvements at Guildhall.
