AAAHS 50th Anniversary - Gallery Talks

From Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th July 2018 -  (11:30 am - 2:15 pm)

For fifty years the Abingdon Archaeological and Historical Society has been at the forefront of research into the town’s past. Its members have excavated sites, examined historic buildings, and scoured archives. Throughout their 50th Anniversary exhibition at the museum, AAAHS members will deliver talks and discussions that will explore Abingdon's history, archaeology and architecture showing visitors what the society has accomplished in the past fifty years.

Saturday, 21st July 2018
'MG, Made in Abingdon: Echoes from the shop-floor'  - Bob Frampton.
Location: First Floor Gallery (37 steps up).

Sunday, 22nd and 29th July 2018
'Discovering and excavating the Abingdon Ophthalmosaur' - Jeff Wallis
Location: Attic Gallery (90 steps up).

Tuesday, 24th July 2018
'Individual and Corporate Identity' - Jackie Smith
Location: Kempster Room (lift and wheel chair accessible)

Wednesday, 25th July 2018
'The Medieval Islamic enamelled glass beaker of Lombard Street' - Judy White
Location: First Flooe Gallery (37 steps up).

Thursday, 26th July 2018
'The Abingdon Monk's Map' - Manfred Brod
Location: Kempster Room (lift and wheel chair accessible). Optional visit to the Attic Gallery (90 steps up) to see the actual map.


Time: 11:30 am and 1:30 pm (talks will last for 30 to 40 minutes)

Location: Kempster Room, First Floor Gallery and Attic Gallery (see location listed next to each talk above)

Admission: FREE (Donations are gratefully received)
