The Kings Head & Bell
Beautifully renovated pub that has retained it’s “heart of the community” atmosphere; the favourite haunt of lots of community groups and meeting place for anyone trying to organise anything in the town – thanks Steve for letting us use all the nooks and crannies around the pub as mini-meeting rooms! Brilliant atmosphere – catch them on a night when the mountain bikers have just got back from a ride and the folk musicians are jamming for a real taste of the most atmosphere you can get without actually being a student any more. Munchy food that goes nicely with the real ales. Lovely private courtyard that stays pretty warm and sheltered even on a cooler evening.
The Broad Face
The most creative menu, pricing that represents excellent value, tasteful modern-classic decor and excellent wine list – what’s not to love at Michael Riemenschneider’s Broad Face restaurant. Michael’s arrival on Bridge Street has really helped to lift the reputation of Abingdon-on-Thames as a foodie destination. If you caught his live demonstration at Good Living 2013 you will also know that he’s an entertaining personality.
