Museums at Night 2014
On 16 May the Museum opened its doors from 6-9pm for the first time as part of the national Museums at Night event. Over 300 enthusiastic visitors enjoyed an evening of music, roof views, late night shop, cafe and open exhibitions. The superb weather attracted crowds to the county hall roof with its stunning views of Abingdon at dusk. There were traditional toys for children of all ages to enjoy and live music in the gallery and café from Amity, the Oxford Horn Trio and Ian Miles. Lively performances by the Abingdon Morris Dancers and Vale Islanders in the arcade meant there was entertainment on all levels.
We have already received some wonderful feedback and pictures from the event. Please message the museum on Twitter or by email if you would like to add your photos and comments of the evening to our catalogue.
We have an increasing list of events coming up this summer, including lectures, children’s activities and new exhibitions. Meet the photographer, exploring HDR Photography, kicks off the summer lectures on 25 June 7pm. Visitors are advised to book early for events as numbers are limited.
