The Chamber of Commerce’s aim is to be the voice of the local business community in the promotion of the businesses, the town and economy of Abingdon-on-Thames and to act as a representative of businesses within Abingdon and surrounding area.
The Chamber of Commerce holds regular social and networking meetings on the first Tuesday of every month to enable members and their guests to liaise with other chamber members in the convivial atmosphere of a local public house, hotel or a restaurant. The Chamber also hold monthly business meetings on the third Tuesday of each month to discuss any relative matters that arise. These commence at 6:30pm and usually finish no later than 8:00pm.
We also host events within the town, these include, B2B networking, promotional events, hustings and training sessions to use social media. Chamber members co-ordinate and run the Local Excellence Markets and Craft Fairs in the Market Place which attract hundreds of people to our town centre.
The Chamber of Commerce is now fully responsible for organising the annual Christmas Extravaganza. This is an all day festival which kicks off Christmas shopping in Abingdon. It has the support of Town Council in providing some beautiful light displays to make the atmosphere special.
The Chamber of Commerce promotes activity in the town centre by hiring out gazebos at reasonable rates to community groups and local businesses – for more information please contact events@abingdonchamber.co.uk
