Visitor Information Centre

Tourism signs in town point to County Hall Museum on Market Place which is open Tuesday to Sunday.

We can respond to requests for information via for instance to send a visitor suggestions on places to visit in any particular month. When planning a trip some information is available by email only.

Abingdon-on-Thames Visitor and Community Information Centre is currently closed in late 2020. Its location when open is the Ground Floor of the Roysse Court Offices, 5 Bridge Street, OX14 3HU. This is next to the Register office, to the right of the lawn at Guildhall.

All services and queries please direct them hrough the Town Council phone 522642 rather than the Visitor Information phone 522711 not being answered most days.

Information staff are dedicated to providing information on the town. They have general knowledge as well as information on the more unusual things to see and do. Find out about town services, town and local events, and learn about the surrounding region. Ask about travel, things to do, places to stay, where to eat and drink in and around the town. Pick up a map or a guide - these are also on this website for a quick download. Assistance is given to individuals and families who live in the town, visitors, tourists to our beautiful region. Coach drivers and people planning trips can obtain new ideas and find out what's open.

Please note opening times are 9.30 am to 3.00 pm Monday to Saturday. Please check before travelling or coming specially. 

There is level access to the Information Centre with a ramp and maps and guides are available weekdays 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at ground floor level including when we are closed.

Outside office hours information is available on this website. 


Genuinely serious emergency issues in the town can be handled by District Council on behalf of the town authorities   council emergencies page here or the Police station on Marcham Road until 8.00 pm or phone 101. Emergency services can be called in life or danger of death emergencies.
