Abingdon-on-Thames is a town with strong, supportive local business networks and an ethos of “supporting local” so it’s a very good place to start or to expand a business. We have a higher proportion of independent businesses than the national average and several business organisations which offer regular networking meetings and deliver projects that help the town’s businesses to market themselves.
For more information about vacant premises, business rates or other local business information see the District website or contact the Economic Development Team at the Vale of White Horse District Council on 01235 422422. Where they are based is linked with the town at 135 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park OX14 4SB,
Businesses in the town centre are able to obtain some advice in advance of a decision to join Abingdon-on-Thames Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce has monthly meetings and you will note in the diary and in this section it plans in advance a progamme of events in support of local trade and to bring people to town.
The town has had a successful BID area in which town businesses participated. Business Breakfast meetings and other helpful networking opportunities will return, some have moved to on line meetings including the three Rotary Clubs for meetings and a quiz open to everyone.
The town’s business directory is being updated as new businesses arrive, others move premises, some remain closed due to lock down. For the commerial sites such as Abingdon Business Park, Abingdon Science Park, Fairacres, Milton Park please see their own information. Recognise that some places leave their normal opening times posted even though they are having to adapt this year.
