The Abbey Meadow Outdoor Pool has been very popular this season with timed sessions to get the most of each visit. Look for opening dates late May.
The heated open air pool at Abbey Meadow is managed for the District Council by Better (GLL).
The pool is situated in a memorable location in the Abbey Meadows alongside the River Thames near the cinema and theatre. After your swim you can relax with a snack at one of the wooden bench tables or on the grass.
There is a free children’s water play park just outside the pool area, which is open in the holidays and weekends in the warm weather for the same period as the pool. The water play park is surrounded by a large area of grassland which is ideal for family picnics. The kiosk nearby serves hot and cold drinks, ice creams, confectionery etc. Vale of White Horse DC leisure pages are very informative.
The Abbey Meadows also has a large children’s play area, hard surface tennis courts, and is adjacent to the beautiful and colourful Abbey Grounds and gardens. The area also links-up with the Sustrans Cycle Route.
Car parking is very close by at the end of Abbey Close and has free parking for two hours with a valid parking ticket. There are four car parks nearby.
Relaxing river walks are near- such as a stroll along the riverbank, over the weir to the lock where one can watch the boats coming in and out of the lock. The pool is only steps away from the Thames Path National Trail.
