Finding a venue to hold your event

Abingdon-on-Thames has massive variety in over a hundred halls and rooms which can be hired for community use. There are historic buildings, community halls and school premises. Accommodation.can be very formal for conferences, talks and lectures and adapt for celebrations, with or without catering.


The town has held functions and receptions at Guildhall for centuries. Now, that sense of history is combined with brand new catering and hospitality services. A prime venue for marriage and partnership ceremonies, Town Council have added to the building to allow for the cinema and entertainment as well as private meetings and community events. Call in or make an appointment by phone during any afternoon or evening when the cinema is open using the Abbey Close entrance OX14 3JD (park in one of the main civic car parks two-hour free period with a displayed ticket). Guildhall and Cinema tabs on the home page or  for an appointment to view the rooms outside the peak time for films. There are lots of photos and what's on information on their social media as well. The Town Clerk's office no longer takes the booking enquiries.

Abbey Buildings

The Abbey Buildings offer the atmospheric Long Gallery, the Undercroft and the attractive garden area. The town's Unicorm Theatre, possibly available,can be viewed whenever there are drama and music  performances.  Abingdon Abbey.Buildings attract bookings which will be made memorable by a beautiful, historic environment, excellent for photographs. County Hall Museum

Rooms are not available for general hire here but some club meetings can be booked into the MouseHole basement area to which there is a lift.  Craft activities are offered here on set days and in school holidays. Art, history and subjects which fit the general purpose of the building any ideas can be discussed with the Manager or any member of staff Tuesday to Sunday.
