Abingdon-on-Thames has wonderful outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed by the brave and sporty visitor, but it also has plenty of places that are great to just relax, stroll in, or watch the river go by from a comfortable bench.Take your pick and have the kind of day that suits you, in our parks, riverside areas, Market Place cafés or at our swimming pools and sports centres.
From Tuesday to Saturday for most of the year you can get a spectacular view of the town by calling at County Hall Museum and asking to go to the roof viewing area. Allow plenty of time before 4.00 pm closure. Audio tours are available in English and lots of other languages. See the course of the Thames, town parkland, the medieval, tudor and later buildings and roofscape. The cupola and roof is a good place for photography.

The town has a cinema with screenings daytime and evening of all the top films. Please book tickets and refreshments in advance at https://theabbey.ac/web you have to pay by debit of credit card, no cash at the door.
Screen two of the cinema uses the Unicorn Theatre when there is not a drama or arts event.
Live link ups with the National Theatre and other theatre, music and opera experiences are held in the Amey Theatre of Abingdon School and so are live concerts and Abingdon Operatic Society productions.
ABCD Film Society are weekly Thursday films and Cinema Nag’s Head programmes are worth checking out.
