A Positive and Effective Environmentalism: What works for people and for planet – A talk by Jake Quinn
We didn’t plan on reaching this point, yet here we are. The stark reality is unbearable, the hyper-complexity is paralysing, the prognosis is damning.
Those who have read the writing on the wall are working tirelessly, trying to carve out a better future. Yet there remains an ongoing and seemingly intractable struggle. The struggle between the greenwashers, the special interest groups, the “nefarious”, “apathetic” and “well-meaning” types…. and the truth.
In this thought-provoking talk, Jake Quinn, Member of the One Planet Abingdon Steering Committee and alma mater of St. Catherine’s College Oxford, attempts to lay bare the yawning chasm that has opened between the evidence and the societal response, which threatens to engulf future well-being. He then imagines a future which closes this gap, where we ground ourselves in a positive environmental philosophy, and reconcile the needs of Humanity with those of Mother Gaia.
