Environmental Debte Live and Unscripted
The Bothy Vineyard are collaborating with the hosts of the People’s Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast, Stuart ‘The Wildman’ Mabbutt and William Mankelow, to bring you a pilot event called Environmental Debate Live & Unscripted, which will be ahead of the roll out in 2022 of more regular, seasonal events that expands the format.
This event is for anyone wanting to explore the big issues, by stretching your thinking in a safe, and supportive setting. Well known personalities, Stuart and William, who aren’t experts, though have opinions, and bring authentic views which aren’t scripted, will facilitate the discussions. Join them on a journey of meandering conversations, full of fun anecdotes, and a bit of silliness, making the big issues palatable.
The initial pilot show will bring the podcast format in front of a live audience for the first time. We will be joined by invited guests Martin Gibson of Earthly Gains, and Dr. Tara Pirie from the University of Reading who will be alongside Stuart and William on the stage set, which will be a fireside setting, surrounded by the audience. Discussing the big issues covering the climate, sustainability, philosophy, nature, social justice, and the human condition.
We will cover four questions; two brought by the guests, one jointly from the hosts, and we’ll open the fourth up to audience. During the interval you will be invited to pose questions that will be randomly drawn, which will then be discussed in the second half of the show.
All four questions will be opened up to the floor, so that you, as a member of the audience, will be free to participate in the discussion. Your inclusion in this shared exploration is important, and forms a vital part of the show, and collectively finding solutions together.
We will aim to have displays from relevant bodies that will help address, and find some of the solutions to the issues we debate. At the very least as a group we’ll also endeavour to find collective solutions and actions to help address the big issues debated and discussed, opening new pathways and thinking to a more sustainable future.
The show will be in two parts with refreshments provided by Bothy Vineyard.
