SUMMARY:Talk: “Why it’s green to go vegan” with Paul Appleby
DESCRIPTION:A talk presented by Paul Appleby\, former senior statistician at The Cancer Epidemiology Unit (part of the Nuffield Department of Population Health of the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford). \nHalf of the world’s habitable land is used for agriculture\, with most of this used to raise livestock for meat and dairy produce. Research suggests that if everyone adopted a plant-based diet we would reduce global land use for agriculture by 75%. In this presentation\, the former secretary of Oxfordshire Vegans & Vegetarians shows why it’s green to go vegan for the benefit of biodiversity and the environment\, and to help reduce the risk of catastrophic climate change by cutting greenhouse gas emissions from farmed animals.’ \nA fantastic opportunity to learn more behind the need for change.
