DESCRIPTION:Paint Abingdon Pink\nRaising Awareness (2009–Present) \nThis exhibition charts the evolution of the event from its beginnings in October 2009 through to the present day. News cuttings and imagery follow moments such as its expansion in scale\, the adaptation to a virtual format in 2020\, and its renaming in 2025 to Paint Abingdon Pink. Working with Abingdon and Witney College a series of flyers/posters and logo concepts were designed by students; there is also a showcase all acts involved in this year’s event. \nThe exhibition concludes on the weekend of Paint Abingdon Pink\, raising awareness of breast cancer\, donations will be welcomed and contribute to help them continue their vital research. \nFREE Admission \nAttic Gallery

SUMMARY:Exhibition: SAXON Abingdon
DESCRIPTION:Following on from last year’s Roman exhibition\, we will continue the story of the Abingdon area and its people through the Anglo-Saxon period and give a more detailed context to the significant Anglo-Saxon artefacts in the Museum’s permanent display\, such as the rare 7th century gold ring with glass bead decoration. Excavations have uncovered much about the Saxon’s presence in Abingdon\, for example the discovery of a Saxon cemetery on Saxton Road. The exhibition looks at the archaeological evidence and takes a closer look at people’s lives here in the early medieval period. \nFREE Admission

SUMMARY:Grim Dark Gaming Society
DESCRIPTION:The Grim Dark Gaming Society has been going since January 2023 and provides facilities and equipment for Science Fiction and table-top gaming. \nWe provide a space to discuss\, paint and play fantasy and sci-fi games. We also offer a safe place to play\, paint and meet like-minded people with the same interest. Beginners and experienced players are all welcome. \nThe society is a non-profit organisation made to further enjoyment of the hobby in all aspects. It is also a great opportunity for players to play games with new people and expand participants’ knowledge and passion for Warhammer and similar strategy games. Whilst these are the main games played there is always room for others and we have board games such as\, Rumble Slam\, Scythe and many more. \nThe club is based above the willows shake shop at the heart of Abingdon town centre and sessions take place on Mondays and Wednesday between 6:30pm and 10:00pm. On Saturday it starts at 10:30am and ends at 4:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever hooked a duck or thrown a quoit? Are you looking for that vintage bargain or retro relic on the White Elephant Stall (the biggest in the world!)? Maybe you would like to buy that perfect painting or a pottery plate made by local artists. As ever you will be able to enjoy a Pimm’s or tea\, cake or ice cream whilst listening to the Silver Band. \nThere will be an Aladdin’s Cave of hundreds of children’s toys and books as well as the Curiosity Corner which will have the most bewildering array of sports equipment\, small furniture\, mirrors\, paintings\, birdbaths\, cushions\, rugs\, plant pots\, chairs\, walking sticks and there is bound to be an exercise bike (bought with misplaced enthusiasm). \nBy far the most enjoyable experience is visiting the Flower & Produce Tent. Each year villagers of all ages and abilities compete in different classes to win the coveted first\, second and third prizes for their effort. Hotly contested are the vegetable categories\, the flowers\, cakes\, produce\, craft\, photography and of course\, children’s art. \nThis very traditional village fete will be held in the gardens of Sotwell House at the very centre of the village. It has glorious formal topiary\, an orchard\, a tennis court and even a moat with ducks! \nLuckily\, you will find it easily in this warren of a village because all you need to do is find the fabulous Red Lion pub on Brightwell Street OX10 0RT and follow the bunting. \nAll the proceeds go to support clubs and societies in the village.
