It’s a fantastic opportunity to spend some time in nature\, and find out more about nature-friendly farming. (If the time is right\, you might even see a lamb being born!). \nWhat’s more\, by coming along to our festival weekends\, you’ll be helping to support our important work in championing accessible natural green spaces for everyone. DESCRIPTION:The Festival of Discovery sees the archaeologists behind the Roman and Iron Age digs at Earth Trust sharing their fascinating finds in a pop-up museum plus a series of specialist talks and unique hands-on workshops. \nWhen archaeologists from DigVentures began excavating at Earth Trust\, it led to the discovery of a previously unknown Roman villa and a vast Iron Age settlement. From the contents of a prehistoric pantry to the arrival of the first pet dogs in Britain\, the results have provided a glimpse into these ancient lives. \nExperience an unprecedented insight into the archaeological discoveries at Earth Trust\, and what they can tell us about the people who once inhabited this part of Oxfordshire\, with daily talks from expert speakers and practical workshops\, plus a free to visit pop-up museum. \nYou will be able to see artefacts from the dig\, hear first-hand from the experts about what they can reveal\, and learn how techniques like ancient DNA\, isotopes\, and careful examination of clues etched into bones can illuminate the long-lost details of daily life. \nDates: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th February 2024\nTimes: 09:30 – 17:30\nTickets: Museum entry is free. Get set to explore Wittenham Clumps with us through a day of fun orienteering. \nThe day begins with our intrepid young explorers getting to know each other with some fun team building challenges. Then it’s time to learn key orienteering skills – map reading and how to use a compass – followed by a practise session in the safety of our Earth Lab gardens. \nAfter lunch\, we head over to the hills – the impressive Wittenham Clumps – to take on orienteering challenges to put your new navigational skills to the test\, traversing around the area to find all the markers. This Scandinavian-born\, coloratura soprano has already achieved critical acclaim on stage as a versatile opera and musical theatre star\, and is now breaking the mould of the classical crossover genre\, receiving standing ovations worldwide for her concert shows. After securing two no 1 singles in the classical charts\, her hotly anticipated album Reimagined rocketed to the top spot in the classical iTunes Charts upon its release surpassing the likes of Andrea Bocelli and Ludovico Einaudi. \nThis concert show will include festive favourites such as O Holy Night\, Panis Angelicus\, Carol of the Bells\, Do You Want To Build A Snowman and many many more! \nAs a proud Ambassador for Earth Trust\, Nadia is using these concerts to proudly raise awareness and funds for this wonderful charity!
