Vocal soloists will be: \nOlivia Carroll (soprano)\, Jessica Ouston (mezzo-soprano)\, Tim Kingston (tenor) and William Thomas (bass-baritone) \nTickets will cost £16 on the door or £14 reserved in advance (children £1). SUMMARY:"ONE NIGHT" a professionally staged reading of the play written by Christopher Swann
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to a generous performing arts grant from SODC and the grant of the Parish Hall from Benson Parish Council the Bensington Society are staging Christopher Swann’s first play “One Night”\, which was premiered in Birmingham in autumn 2023. \n“One Night” is an imagining of the historic night when two officers went into a Chapel in France in November 1920 to choose the Unknown Warrior who is now laid to rest in Westminster Abbey. The officers went in at dusk and emerged at dawn and no one ever talked or wrote about what happened. Some of the original cast will be performing as well as some distinguished new comers. It will be an “enhanced staged reading” given the short time we have to stage it. Tickets are £5 and will be available on the door as well as the from the outlets detailed on the poster.

SUMMARY:Grim Dark Gaming Society
DESCRIPTION:The Grim Dark Gaming Society has been going since January 2023 and provides facilities and equipment for Science Fiction and table-top gaming. \nWe provide a space to discuss\, paint and play fantasy and sci-fi games. We also offer a safe place to play\, paint and meet like-minded people with the same interest. Beginners and experienced players are all welcome. \nThe society is a non-profit organisation made to further enjoyment of the hobby in all aspects. It is also a great opportunity for players to play games with new people and expand participants’ knowledge and passion for Warhammer and similar strategy games. Whilst these are the main games played there is always room for others and we have board games such as\, Rumble Slam\, Scythe and many more. \nThe club is based above the willows shake shop at the heart of Abingdon town centre and sessions take place on Mondays and Wednesday between 6:30pm and 10:00pm. On Saturday it starts at 10:30am and ends at 4:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Award winning 21st Century contemporary singer-songwriter Chris Fox is an independent musician spanning the roots lexicon of Folk\, Americana\, Country and Blues. A genre defying troubadour\, audiences are enthralled by his rich vocals\, complex guitar playing\, and loop pedal alchemy finding Chris to be humorous & thought provoking in equal measures. His naturally laid back\, unostentatious style creates the perfect ambience for an intimate and inclusive live experience drawing listeners in with tales of the everyday and the unexpected. \nChris released his first album ‘From the Shadows’ in 2019. Then in September ’22 Chris released his second album ‘In Plain Sight’ to critical acclaim. His music over the years has been aired widely both internationally and on radio stations across the UK including BBC Radio and has seen press support from titles such as Folk Radio UK\, RnR magazine\, Irish Music Magazine and Americana UK\, while gaining a nomination for Best Male Artist of the Year from FATEA\, 2023. \nBorn and raised in Cambridgeshire\, Chris Fox cut his teeth playing for pints in local drinking establishments along the river Great Ouse in 2014. Fast forward to an award-winning singer songwriter\, Chris has performed at Folk Festivals\, Clubs and Theatres in the UK and Europe as Headliner\, in Double Bills and support for major acts on the UK Folk Scene. \nNow playing headline gigs\, on his way from there to now Chris supported some of the greats including Peter Knights Gigspanner Trio\, Peter Knight & John Spiers\, Jim Moray\, Trials of Cato\, Boo Hewerdine\, Brooks Williams\, Lucy Ward\, Grannies Attic\, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman\, Edwina Hayes and Ange Hardy. Chris played Cambridge Folk festival 3 times including a packed out set in The Den\, as well as the Ely\, Purbeck\, Holmfirth\, Black Deer and British Country Music Festivals to name just a few. Runner up in the Bury St Edmunds song competition Chris went on to win the Sheringham Showcase to open for Fairport Convention at Folk on The Pier 2018 and the Lichfield Folk Festival song writing competition 2019 \nFurther developing his career Chris has formed a duo with John Parker (Nizlopi\, Jackie Oates) on double Bass and a trio with the addition of Toby Shaer (Cara Dillon\, John KcKusker) on Fiddle.
