SUMMARY:Sam Carter with support from Three Idle Women
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to welcome back Sam Carter to Harwell as he tours some intimate venues\, previewing material from his fifth studio album\, which was released in 2024. \nOver the course of his fifteen-year career\, Sam has earned a reputation for vivid\, narrative-driven songwriting ‘as penetrating as Richard Thompson’s best work’ (Uncut). A highly regarded instrumentalist to boot\, Sam is renowned by many as “the finest English-style fingerpicking guitarist of his generation” (Jon Boden) and has been described as having a ‘killer voice’ by Ivor Novello- winning musician Nitin Sawhney. \nHis impressive back catalogue and captivating live shows attest to his ability to bring together a diverse set of influences from English folk song and American shapenote singing through to hard rock. \nSam has made appearances on national TV\, won a BBC Folk Award\, and has toured the world\, sharing stages with some of folk’s leading lights\, including Richard Thompson\, Eliza Carthy\, Martin Simpson and Nancy Kerr. \nDoors and bar at 7pm\, music at 7:40pm. \nSupport from the Three Idle Women.

It is also a great opportunity for players to play games with new people and expand participants’ knowledge and passion for Warhammer and similar strategy games. Whilst these are the main games played there is always room for others and we have board games such as\, Rumble Slam\, Scythe and many more. \nThe club is based above the willows shake shop at the heart of Abingdon town centre and sessions take place on Mondays and Wednesday between 6:30pm and 10:00pm. On Saturday it starts at 10:30am and ends at 4:00pm. There will always be one committee member at each session to welcome you\, and of course me on a Wednesday. \nIf you want to know more you can email (bloodandwar40@gmail.com) or check out our website (https:/a-grim-dark-gaming-society.square.site/). \nIn the evenings and at the weekend you can get refreshments downstairs such as milkshakes\, coffee tea and cold drinks so there’s a wide variety of hot or cold food available\, depending on your taste. All in all this is a great opportunity for people who want to play strategy games for a small fee or you can watch the games and seek advice for free.
