The new Beatrix Potter?
Gorgeous illustrations and charming stories are combined in the new Manor House Stories series of children’s books. Author and illustrator Jani Tully Chaplin will be signing copies of Lady Davina Dove (£7.99) at The Bookstore on Bury Street from 11am until 2-3pm on Saturday (9th November).
The author is related to the Warne publishing family, publishers of the original Beatrix Potter books, but it was not until she met her own publisher in Corfu in 2011 that the books, drafted for her own children many years before, became a real project. The Manor House Stories have been conceived as a series of 12 books and one will be released each month. There’s a gentle humour and delightful illustrative talent that makes these books very special and Abingdon-on-Thames is only the second venue in Oxfordshire (after Blenheim Palace) where the author is signing copies.
