An introduction to One Planet Abingdon Climate Emergency Centre from Michelle Charlesworth – Co Founder and Activist.
One Planet Abingdon Climate Emergency Centre (OPACEC) is a vibrant community space for the people of Abingdon and surrounding villages who come together to build resilience and cohesion during this challenging time.
We are very grateful to Abingdon Town Council who have granted us free use of a cafe space in the museum basement in the centre of Abingdon until 2028.
Everything we do at OPACEC is guided by Bioregional’s One Planet Living framework of 10 principles, from Health and Happiness, Sustainable Food, Land and Nature, all the way through to zero carbon energy.
We are in a climate and ecological emergency and as a community we are coming together to inspire one another to take climate action as responsible and conscientious citizens, supporting, sharing, developing as an awakened people, where nobody is left behind.
We are a volunteer-led, motivated bunch actively engaging with the various communities of Abingdon – including faith groups, schools, green groups and businesses, families and students, old and young, people from all over the globe who have found themselves living in Abingdon. Everyone is welcome and we all have a role to play as the task is enormous.
Together we can and are making a difference. We would love for you to be a part of this work – fighting for a liveable future by doing all we can within our power, peacefully and consciously. If you are interested in supporting us, do get in touch by going to our website at oneplanetabingdon.org
We are open from Thursdays to Sundays from 10am – 4pm. We hold regular events and these are on the website and facebook pages. We sell nothing – everything is by cash donation. There is a lift for those with mobility needs and everyone is welcome.
We are grateful to you for reading and look forward to seeing you in our amazing space for a cuppa and a delicious piece of cake soon!
