Our speaker\, Dr Sailesh Rao is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers\, a non-profit organisation dedicated towards healing the Earth’s climate. He is an environmentalist by occupation and systems engineer by profession. His latest book\, “There is a Planet B”\, will be launched at the Oxford Literary Festival on April 2nd. \nHis talk will explore how “Vegan Rewilding” could be the solution to our global environmental\, health and ethical crises. This event is run entirely by volunteers who fix things in their spare time. \n– Bring your bike to be checked over under the arches of the museum. \n– Bring your blunt secateurs\, scissors\, knives etc and give them a new edge! (If it is busy we may restrict you to 1 item at a time\, sorry!). \n– Bring your broken electrical or mechanical or wooden item\, toy or furniture and our volunteer repairers will try to mend it. Stay and watch them fix it\, and while you wait to be seen\, browse the interesting displays in the Climate Emergency Centre\, or enjoy a coffee or tea and piece of cake. \nRepairs are free\, but small donations are welcomed to cover overheads to ensure running repair cafés can continue into the future. \nPlease note that this Repair Cafe will not include the mending of clothes/materials – we have seperate events just for ‘Making and Mending’\, see our Events page. \nRepairs can also still happen in repairers’ homes if that is more convenient for you. If you have an item that needs fixing\, and cannot bring it in to the centre\, please fill in this form. One of our Repair Café Volunteers will then get in touch with you to find out more about the fault\, and if they think they can mend it\, to let you know where to bring the item.
