She is also one half of the much-loved Yorkshire folk duo O’Hooley & Tidow alongside her wife Heidi Tidow; together described by The Guardian as ‘exceptional songwriters.’ The duo have been propelled into newfound fame for penning the theme tune to Sally Wainwright’s hit BBC1/HBO drama ‘Gentleman Jack’\, earning them global admiration\, an acting role for Belinda on the iconic TV drama Happy Valley\, Radio 4 Woman’s Hour and concerts that sell out months in advance. \nBelinda is also known for her inventive\, minimalist\, sometimes flamboyant accompanying of folk luminaries including Rufus Wainwright\, Nic Jones\, Jackie Oates and the Mercury nominated; Rachel Unthank and The Winterset. \nHer solo album ‘Inversions’ showcases Belinda’s abilities as a composer and pianist with many of the piano pieces inspired by the songs and tunes her father inherited from a long line of male musicians in the hills of the West coast of rural Ireland. DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to bring Alex Hart (Seth Lakeman Trio\, Martin Barre Band) and her guitarist Adam Sweet to The Unicorn Theatre to kick off our 2024 programme. \nDescribed by BBC Radio 2 presenter Mark Radcliffe as “the Stevie Nicks of Folk”. The south-west based singer/songwriter Alex Hart is set for her most exciting and anticipated album release to date. \nAt 18 she collaborated with electronic duo Electronic Youth on a cover of Angie Stones’ “I Wish I Didn’t Miss You” which had huge global radio success reaching No.2 in the Music Week Dance Charts and was supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. \nThis recognition spearheaded a run of high-profile festivals performances and a slot opening for UK folk sensation Turin Brakes at the Lyme Regis Folk festival. Alex’s opening performances landed her two record deals\, as she was\nquickly snapped up by US label OK!Good Records and Right Track Records UK. Alex started working with Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer Terry Britten (famous for “What’s Love Got To Do With It for Tina Turner) and went on to release her critically acclaimed debut Album “On this Day” \nFollowing the success of Alex’s debut album\, her voice and musicianship caught the eye of legendary Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre\, who asked Alex to be a part of his band as a musician and vocalist for their European and international tour dates. Alex has performed and toured all over the UK/Europe with the band and has embarked on many international US tours. \nAlex also collaborates and performs alongside\, the critically acclaimed Devon born folk singer Seth Lakeman\, Alex’s voice as well her multi-instrumental playing features heavily on his brand-new album. The single “Higher We Aspire” received huge BBC Radio 2 support\, and Alex performed the song live on BBC Breakfast TV. \nAs well as a busy touring schedule\, Alex is constantly working on new music ready for new releases in 2023\, including her new album ‘VISIONS’ which has just been released this September alongside a successful UK tour. \n“This album has been a real labor of love for me. Each song tells a story about a certain time in my life\, some reflecting on relationships with friends\, family and my career. I wanted this album to resonate with others\, hopefully helping them through the difficult hurdles we face. This album is about feeling powerful and overcoming hard situations. One song\, however\, ‘Blackbird’ which features well-known folk artist Benji Kirkpatrick on Bouzouki\, is all about lockdown. Everytime I\nwalked around the park near my home I felt like the blackbird was following me. It was a constant reminder of my family and how much I missed seeing them. I’ve been very lucky to have some amazing guest appearances on my new record\, including Seth Lakeman and Martin Barre from Jethro Tull. They are great friends of mine\, I have toured the UK\, Europe and the USA with them and they have contributed highly to my journey in the music industry. The album artwork was created by Phil James\, an artist from Plymouth who is a dear friend of mine. He has captured the sentiment completely. Myself and Andy\, my husband got engaged near Yosemite in 2022\, so using the wanderlust photo was fitting for this project\, marking this poignant time in my life. \nWriting and recording with Josiah at Momentum Studios was also such a highlight\, it took a few months to gather the material together\, time spent alone first in my home studio and then bringing the ideas to Josiah\, where we would rework the songs together. We both played many of the tracks live and then overdubbed different instruments. I wanted to get the most organic sound as possible and I think we made a great team. Visions is definitely my best work so far. I am so proud of this album\, it is completely self-funded and it was so special to have complete control over every aspect. DESCRIPTION:British folk and roots duo Honey & the Bear combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative songwriting. With a diverse range of sounds and textures\, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads\, their live performances are spirited and dynamic. Conjuring stories in song\, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore\, courageous people they admire\, their passion for nature and the odd heartbreak or two. \nThe multi instrumentalist pair\, comprised of songwriters Jon Hart (guitar\, bass\, bazouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar\, ukulele\, bass\, banjo\, mandolin & percussion)\, have been writing and performing together since early 2014\, having met at a songwriting event two years previous. Since then\, they have played at many revered venues and festivals across the UK as well as travelled across the channel for their first European tour. They supported Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys on two UK tours and opened for The Shires at world renowned Snape Malting’s Concert Hall. \nIn July 2019 they released their first full studio album ‘Made In The Aker’ which was followed by a UK tour as a four piece band in October 2019 alongside fellow musicians Toby Shaer of Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys & Cara Dillon and Evan Carson of Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys and The Willows. The album was well received by both their ever growing fan base and the critics. \n2020 and the onset of the coronavirus pandemic saw the duo grounded and many gigs cancelled\, but their music has prevailed in the form of Sunday night facebook live streams of which they performed thirty-two throughout the year 2020. After challenging themselves to write a new song for the first 12 weeks of the livestream\, they successfully managed to produce a second album in the Autumn. ‘Journey Through the Roke’ which was released on 23rd April 2021. The album features many talented musicians including Toby Shaer (whistles\, harmonium\, flute\, fiddle\, bass)\, Evan Carson (drums\, bodhran\, percussion)\, Archie Churchill Moss of Moore Moss Rutter (melodeon) and Graham Coe of The Jellyman’s Daughter (cello). \nBorn and raised in Suffolk\, Lucy learned violin and drums at school\, sung in the Suffolk Jubilee choir and started songwriting at age 15. She taught herself guitar whilst at university in Canterbury\, and began performing her creations not long afterwards. At 27\, she released her debut band album ’Step Right On’\, songs from which you now hear her perform with Jon. \nJon\, a Yorkshire boy\, raised in Cambridgeshire\, Norfolk and Suffolk\, has been performing his own songs since his teens. A self taught guitarist\, his love of driving guitar riffs is a core aspect of his song writing process. He has released three band albums\, the latest of which was entitled ‘Level with me’\, featuring ‘wristburner’ which is a gig favourite. \nMISHRA \nMishra are a global folk collective with strong roots in U.K folk\, out of which they weave a tight web of intricate\, Indian-influenced original music that defies definition and has already brought awards recognition since their formation in 2017. Kate Griffin (The Magpies) and Ford Collier (BBC R2 Folk Award nominated The Drystones) are the songwriting partnership behind Mishra\, drawing on their unique base of influences that encompasses folk music of the UK and America\, Indian classical music\, and soul to create a surprisingly accessible sound that audiences instantly connect to. Between the two of them\, Kate and Ford create a rich texture from their array of instruments: Irish low whistle\, banjo\, Indian tabla\, dobro\, African calabash\, and guitar\, all of which provide a vibrant backdrop to Kate’s striking vocals. Their set is entirely original and traditional\, apart from a popular cover of Gillian Welch’s Scarlet Town\, receiving airplay on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show by Mark Radcliffe. \nMishra’s duo shows display Kate and Ford’s stunning musical connection\, while their quartet shows featuring renowned tabla player John Ball (Rafiki Jazz\, Indus) and jazz-folk double bassist Joss Mann-Hazell bring an even richer texture to the band’s core sound.

DESCRIPTION:Sapphire Storm are a powerhouse duo\, performing a mixture of Country\, Bluegrass\, Americana & original songs. \nBoth Leanne Thorose (lead vocals\, guitar & mandolin) and Eleanor Wilkie (double bass & harmony vocals) currently play in the all female IBMA Nominated Bluegrass band Midnight Skyracer\, who released their first album Fire in 2018 and were signed to Island/Universal Records in 2020 where they released their second album Shadows On The Moon. \nLeanne is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist based in London\, England. She plays the mandolin\, fiddle & guitar\, specialising in Bluegrass and Country music. Leanne has been a touring musician for over 10 years and has made appearances in a number of different bands and theatre projects including the critically acclaimed Irish Dance show Essence of Ireland as their lead fiddle player where she completed tours around the UK with shows in Qatar and Johannesburg\, South Africa. \nEleanor has predominantly been on the Bluegrass and Folk music scene for over two decades and has played double bass and fiddle in bands such as Dulaman\, Keep Off The Grass\, Chill Until Blue\, Shake the Roots\, and more recently (2017-present)\, as the bass player for the all-female band\, Midnight Skyracer. Eleanor also plays piano\, and tends to write many of her songs on this. Other instruments that Eleanor enjoys to flirt with include banjo\, guitar and mandolin. Cup O’Joe is a close family trio who have been playing together from their early teens. Comprising brothers Reuben and Benjamin and sister Tabitha\, they were raised in the traditions of bluegrass and folk\, and it is these traditions that their music is rooted in. They blend the intricate tones of bluegrass\, folk and jazz to tones to create their own progressive acoustic sound. Their mix of original and re-imagined traditional songs sets the ingredients for an energetic and enthusiastic performance\, and this is giving them a growing presence on the surrounding acoustic music scene in Ireland\, the UK and mainland Europe. Strong sibling harmonies can be heard throughout their music\, harmonies that blend together like only sibling harmonies can. \nThe former Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalists have toured extensively through Ireland\, England and central Europe over the years. In 2017 they were selected to take part in the Bluegrass Ramble at the International Bluegrass Associations weeklong conference and festival in Raleigh\, North Carolina\, being among some of the first international bands to do so. \nThey are set to release their new album in January 2020\, which contains nine new original songs and one traditional\, whilst embodying a fresh original sound.
