Community-your Abingdon

There is a lot to do in Abingdon-on-Thames, much of it arranged by community groups and other voluntary bodies.

This town website is the official site of the town of Abingdon.

This site has input from all parts of town as people submit events for the diary for the year ahead or add to the directory of societies and things to do. Volunteer townspeople are working on the excellent history information throughout the year. Do you have any unique knowledge from the recent or distant past? Let's make the information on people and places as complete as possible.

These pages include information about groups you can join for activities and interests and public events. There are resources of use to you if you are an active member of a community group. It is worth looking more than once as there are new initiatives throughout the year.

The town's Visitor and Community Information Centre at Roysse Court with easy access from Bridge Street has so much information on how to spend your leisure time particularly in the weeks to Christmas.. It is open six days a week including Christmas Eve. After a Christmas break Thursday 2nd January there will new information when it re-opens.

New Year's Day walk leaves Market Place at 11 am on Wednesday 1st January. Allow until 1.30 pm.  Abingdon  Traditional Morris will be out keeping the town cheerful at lunchtime on New Year's Day.
