The central meeting place for most Abingdon folk, the Market Place is a lively place with markets and events frequently taking place but also a wonderful spot for an open-air coffee in the sunshine. There is a choice of the Museum coffee shop cosy in winter, cool in summer under Old County Hall, R&R, Costa, Java, Pablo Lounge and the cafe next to the County Hall aptly-named Throwing Buns. Some long established businesses fringe the edges of the space, including Fat Face, The Nursery Shop (very efficient with online sales of children’s clothes, toys and gifts) and Gatwards Jewellers also TT Jewellers.
