Abingdon-on-Thames has almost every sport you can name either in the town or very close by. The first port of call for a lot of people is the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre.
There are pitches for sports at Tilsley Park in North Abingdon for team games and athletics. Floodlighting allows training and matches to take place in the evening. Abingdon Marathon sets off from here on the third Sunday in October.
The Park Run part of a national movement takes places on Saturday mornings using the Abbey Meadow. All the town’s clubs are given in our directory here.

Get Oxfordshire Active has suggestions and offers to try new sports and keep fit. There is an Active Women programme and GO Active Gold which has sports for people wanting to stay active when over 50 such as walking football, nordic walking, aqua-toning. The team running these activities have been given a Sport England Award in 2018 for sports development project of the year.
www.getoxfordshireactive.org has activity sheets and suggestions, a picture finder and ideas for being active at home when you can’t go out. Some booklets may be appropriate to print for people you know without technology at their fingertips. There is a listing of lots of sport and well being providers, A to Z or aerobics to yoga and Zumba.
Drayton Park golf course has taster sessions and so do local clubs. There is also an 18-hole Golf course, a Par 3 course and a 20-bay floodlit state-of-the-art Toptracer driving range at the JD Golf Academy & Toptracer.
