Abingdon plays its part in national and international occasions, including the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth campaign which asks every town, organisation and government to raise the Commonwealth Flag at 10am on Commonwealth Day. The first Commonwealth nation to raise the flag is Tonga, which is thirteen hours ahead of the UK.
