Glorious glass\, ceramics and pottery\, woodwork\, handmade jewellery\, spinning\, weaving\, felting\, copper embossing and enamelling as well as artists and graphic designers. From handmade wooden feathers to laser-cut decorations\, and delicate wearable flowers\,  spend a delightful day browsing gifts and artworks that you will want to be part of your home. (oh yes and there is a tea tent with cakes\, wonderful cakes.)

DESCRIPTION:Bringing the medieval Abbey Buildings to life once again\, the Abingdon Traditional Craft Fair brings over 60 craftworkers to exhibit over 3 days. As well as supporting local talent the event showcases the work of British craftworkers from across the country including Lancashire\, Yorkshire\, the South Coast\, the Cotswolds and London. All are genuine makers\, designers or artists. When you are supporting an event like this you are helping to keep British crafts alive. \nTicket Prices\nThis event is ticketed but children under 9 can go in free and there is a special senior’s ticket price for over 65s.\n£6 standard adult ticket\n£5 seniors\n£3 children 9 and above\nchildren below 9 years – no charge \nRefreshment area with hot drinks and cakes in the Courtyard. \nThe Abbey Buildings do not have a lift and part of the exhibition is upstairs.

SUMMARY:Plot to Plate Festival
DESCRIPTION:Grow it\, cook it\, share it\, love it. \nCome and join our new festival – a celebration and a learning experience. \nOur Plot to Plate Community Festival will celebrate growing\, cooking and eating vegetables. It is a chance to try new recipes\, learn new growing tips\, improve your cooking skills and consider rebalancing your diet. Cooking recipes with higher vegetable content is a great way to stretch the family budget and bring healthier options to your table and the savings are increased if you grow your own\, as well as creating a stress-busting family activity across all ages. \nPlot to Plate will include fun activities for families as well as the classes\, talks and tastings focused on vegetable growing\, cooking and eating. The organisers want to create an event that is fun and light-hearted even though the things you can learn while you are there could have a big impact on your life and health and the planet. \nThe daytime festival starts at 11am. Entry is free but we are asking people to register for the talks and workshops so that we can manage numbers.  The Long Gallery Tea Room is open for elevenses\, lunch and afternoon teas. No more entries through the gate after 4.30pm. Final event of the day is Gardeners Question Time in the Unicorn Theatre starting at 4.30pm. \nFrom 6.00pm there is a ceilidh. Dancing starts around 6.30pm until 9.30pm with a one hour break in the middle. Bar and evening meal service. DESCRIPTION:The Abingdon Royal Jubilee Bunting project was a great success. A huge cross section of the community worked together to create beautiful no sew garlands to decorate Rye Farm Meadow over the Jubilee Festival weekend. \nTo celebrate this achievement\, you are invited to join us at the historic Abingdon Abbey Buildings to enjoy a celebratory cream tea and raise a glass of Pimms or elderflower fizz to our achievement and our lovely town. \nThis will be a chance to meet likeminded folk\, put faces to names\, find out more about One Planet Abingdon and the Abbey Buildings Trust\, and share your thoughts on how we can build on this great achievement. \nPlaces are limited so please book your free ticket ASAP.

All profits are used for the upkeep of the lovely\, listed Abbey Buildings. \nFrom vintage to quirky\, fun to fabulous\, the Fair returns with stylish\, unique and curated Christmas gifts for everyone. There will be some great new stalls\, alongside many familiar faces.\n \nIn the past two years we have all got used to having a little more space around us and we know this is still the safest way to shop. DESCRIPTION:Visit one of Abingdon’s lesser-known treasures\, the remaining domestic buildings of the medieval Abingdon Abbey. Explore the “pop-up” Monastery Herb Garden\, to see herbs used by the monks for both medicinal and culinary purposes. Talk to the beekeeper about his bees and honey\, a medieval wonder food. \n\nAbingdon Abbey was one of the most cultured and wealthy monasteries of England. It welcomed many royal visitors over 500 years to 1536\, when the Abbey Church and most of the rest of the abbey precinct was demolished by order of King Henry VIII. The domestic buildings were sold as commercial premises and over the next 400 years were successively a corn mill\, a brewery and eventually slum dwellings. They were saved from demolition in 1944 by The Friends of Abingdon and after the first 10 years of repair and restoration they opened to the public; they have been open ever since\, but the repair and restoration work continues. More information about the Buildings and their history can be found on our website. \nThe Buildings will be open to wander around at your leisure or with a guide. Refreshments will be available in the Long Gallery. The Monastery Herb Garden will be open in the Millstream Garden on both days. Representatives from a wine collective will be there to talk about English wine-making and offer tastings\, and on Sunday afternoon a beekeeper will be available in the North Garden\, with a glass beehive and to answer questions about honey and the life of bees.
