DESCRIPTION:Nilmini Roelens grew up in Sri Lanka. She now works as a solicitor in Oxford\, lives in Abingdon and supports One Planet Abingdon. She and her husband created a company\, Solar Village SDG CIC\, an Oxfordshire-based community interest company dedicated to sustainable development in rural Sri Lanka through renewable energy. \nTheir company has launched the “Oxford City Walkabout 2025” fundraiser for November 2\, 2025\, to establish solar-powered villages and smart classrooms in Sri Lanka. The initiative aims to provide solar energy for clean water\, sanitation\, and IT-based education in communities lacking basic resources. \nNilmini will tell us about all this and more\, in her talk on Wednesday October 15th at 7.30pm in Abingdon Baptist Church. Come and join us and bring your friends! Please also consider whether a school or church you have contact with might be inspired by this\, and forward this to them!
