DESCRIPTION:Walking the 1556 boundaries of Abingdon\nNew Year’s Day 2025\, 11am\nMarket Place\n\n\n\n\n\nAbingdon’s ancient custom of “Beating the Bounds”\, or walking the boundaries\, was laid down in the Charter of Incorporation 1556.  In past times\, Beating the Bounds was a special occasion with the Town Chamberlain obliged to swim the River Thames.  Cakes and ale or tea was distributed to residents and there would be a feast for town dignitaries. \nJoin us on New Year’s Day to retrace their steps (as far as modern developments allow) and learn a little bit of the history of the Charter.  The walk will be led by a former Town Councillor\, accompanied by a Town Crier \nDuration approx. 2 hours \nNo swimming will be involved – but please dress for the weather with sturdy\, mud-proof footwear

DESCRIPTION:One Planet Abingdon\, Evoking Belonging\, and Abingdon Events Partnership – with the support of the town council\, are hosting a fabulous One Planet Living festival this summer. The eco fair we held last year was a huge success and this year we are doing it bigger with loads more fun! We are celebrating one planet living and everyone is invited. The marketplace will be buzzing with local eco traders\, delicious street food\, live entertainment and music\, talks\, activities\, eco crafts and games for all the family. Ecotots will be there as well as Chess! The one planet youth have planned a special something and there will be events in the climate emergency centre too. All details are on the website. The carbon cutters will be hosting a repair cafe in the Roysse Room and Clive will be checking bikes under the arches. Join us\, it is going to be a colourful event where we discover and celebrate the wonderful community that we have! It is time to come together as we live through these unprecedented times. There is no entry fee and all stalls run by One Planet will be by donation\, ensuring that the festival is accessible to all. Nobody left behind\, as we build a resilient and aware community. DESCRIPTION:This month our ecotots session is on a Saturday and is part of our One Planet Living Festival on 15 June. The festival starts at 10am and there will be loads of activities for everyone. Ecotots will be held in a large gazebo and Laura will be there as usual! Come along and enjoy the fun outdoors this time!’Our Wonderful World’ sessions are aimed at preschoolers age 2-5\, although older and younger siblings are also welcome! We aim to introduce families to the world around us\, through stories\, songs\, play activities and craft. All our craft activities are made primarily out of items that would otherwise be thrown away\, to give families an idea of how to use materials they may already have around the house\, as part of our aim to reduce consumption.
