From the contents of a prehistoric pantry to the arrival of the first pet dogs in Britain\, the results have provided a glimpse into these ancient lives. \nExperience an unprecedented insight into the archaeological discoveries at Earth Trust\, and what they can tell us about the people who once inhabited this part of Oxfordshire\, with daily talks from expert speakers and practical workshops\, plus a free to visit pop-up museum. \nYou will be able to see artefacts from the dig\, hear first-hand from the experts about what they can reveal\, and learn how techniques like ancient DNA\, isotopes\, and careful examination of clues etched into bones can illuminate the long-lost details of daily life. \nDates: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th February 2024\nTimes: 09:30 – 17:30\nTickets: Museum entry is free. DESCRIPTION:Come along to our family-friendly creative art workshop to learn how to make your own colourful art using the sun. \nSun prints\, or ‘cyanotypes’ as they are sometimes known\, are one of the oldest forms of photography.  Local artist\, Emma Williams\, will show you how to make these stunning blue and white prints using just the power of the sun. \nWe’ll use a specially pre-coated paper\, lay some cool objects on top and expose it to the rays of the sun. You can use plants\, feathers\, lace\, stencils\, even your hands to make patterns. Then\, just rinse your print in water and your picture will appear like magic. Emma will show you how to embellish your prints once they are dry. \nBe warned\, it’s mesmerising and totally addictive! \nThis is a great session for families with young children to work together to make lovely artworks or for older children to explore the process in greater depth. And\, don’t worry\, we can even make sun prints when it’s cloudy (we just expose them for longer). Includes all materials and equipment\, a pack of sun print paper to take away to make more at home\, as well as refreshments.

Adding some other common kitchen ingredients\, you’ll magically transform the colours you have made in a fascinating natural process. \nThere will also be an opportunity to find out how traditional artists’ charcoal is made\, using willow and fire\, and make a few sticks to take home. \nThis family-friendly workshop will be led by Earth Trust staff and Emma Williams from Natural Learning Oxford\, a local artist and arts educator who specialises in working with families. \nAt every step you’ll have help and support from Emma and the team and at the end of the session you’ll take home your own naturally beautiful masterpieces!
