DESCRIPTION:Mami Shikimori\, local professional concert pianist will be coming to St Michael & All Angels’ Church\, Park Road\, Abingdon to give a recital of favourite pieces: Beethoven’s ‘Appassionata’ sonata\, Tchaikovsky’s ‘Chanson Triste’\, Gershwin’s ‘I Got Rhythm’ amongst others. Mami’s playing has been described as ‘Exquisite’ by the Sunday Times\, and ‘Sheer Delight’ and ‘Dazzling’ by the BBC Music Magazine. SUMMARY:Floral Choral | Oxford Pro Musica Singers
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to hear one of Oxford leading choirs performing in Abingdon. \nOxford Pro Musica Singers present a fabulous feast of floral and choral favourites for a spring evening. \nTwo contrasting song cycles form the basis of the programme: Benjamin Britten’s characterful ‘Five Flower Songs’ and the mesmerising ‘Chansons des Roses’ by Morten Lauridsen. The programme also includes several of Gerald Finzi’s partsongs to texts by Robert Bridges\, and other works with a floral theme by Wilbye\, Guerrero and the ever-popular Bob Chilcott.
