AGM and Carol Hardy – Rothschild Collecting and Waddesdon Manor’s Treasury

Wednesday 31st December, 2025 - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Rothschild family is renowned for their extensive and diverse collections of art, antiques and artifacts.  Their passion for collecting has been a family tradition with each generation contributing to collections including everything from traditional and contemporary art to furniture, textiles, porcelain and objets d’art of all kinds.

In September 2019, the late Lord Rothschild opened The Treasury at Waddesdon Manor, a permanent exhibition of over 300 objects, dating from 100AD to the early 20th century and collected by a number of members of the English and French Rothschilds over the last 200 years in the tradition of the Schatzkammer or Wunderkammer.  The objects are in a range of exotic materials – gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones, coral, rock crystal, enamel and much more.

The talk will be preceded by a very brief AGM and will focus on several objects in the exhibition, their histories, significance and associations with their collectors.  Carol works at Waddesdon and helps look after these treasures.
