Driving
Abingdon civic car parks offer an hour of free parking in civic car parks and there are plenty of town centre car parks. Please remember to read the terms of use on the car park display boards.
Coaches
See the Coach Drivers’ Yearbook for public service vehicles and parking with visitors. It is essential that you book through the Vale of White Horse District Council as the coach park will be locked at some times. Please phone +44 1235 470118 or switchboard +44 1235 422422 in advance during weekday office hours.
There is a drop off point for one coach at Hales Meadow at Abingdon Bridge, which offers visitors a short, level stroll into town. Walk on the pavement by the Nag’s Head, the Broad Face and the Crown and Thistle and you come to the Information Office on Bridge Street.
The heritage area is beautiful but there are some narrow streets. During the Abingdon Michaelmas Fair in October, coaches and HGVs are not able to approach the town centre or any civic car park.
Electric vehicles
Electric charging of vehicles is expanding and more sites are becoming available all the time at public car parks. Car charging is available at Waitrose on Abbey Close, OX14 3JD (follow road signs for Information and Theatre). Larger vehicles can charge up at Frilford to the west of town.
