With a wide range of independent shops, Abingdon-on-Thames is emphatically an individual. It’s a unique place to spend a relaxing day browsing and discovering something new. The streets cluster around the medieval Market Place, making it easy to wander around without walking too far, and everything is just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Thames riverbank. Family-run businesses mean that friendly service is backed by sound knowledge of the products they sell, so you will find our shopkeepers a refreshing change.
Two new businesses are The Little Tea Room and a new dry cleaner both on East St Helen Street.

The town is one of sixty towns in England which have a centre that has to be conserved for its history, heritage and listed ancient buildings. Large departmental stores are mainly to the West of the town centre, a short walk or take the 15 towards Witney or 31 bus in the Wantage direction from Stratton Way heading West just a few stops.
