Discover more about the UK’s world-leading research and scientific innovations by visiting STFC’s exhibition at the historic Cosener’s House as a part of the Heritage Open Days.

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is a world-leading centre for research and innovation. From space telescopes to particle accelerators, STFC works to discover the secrets of our universe by facilitating fundamental research in astronomy, physics, and space science.

The Cosener’s House will be hosting an exhibition showcasing some of STFC’s inventions and innovations. Exhibits will include a look into STFC’s contributions to the James Webb Space Telescope, security imaging in airports, and the development of Green Ammonia, a renewable fuel source. The showcase will also feature microscopes and meteorites, a demonstration of how science can inform our past, using microscopes to analyse a range of fossils including dinosaur teeth, a mammoth’s tusk, and a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite.

The showcase will be open to visitors of all ages and include activities such as building your own space telescope and wind turbine.
