St. Edmund’s Abingdon – Guided Walk
Thursday 21st July, 2022 - 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Edmund of Abingdon, born in the 12th century, is arguably Abingdon’s most nationally important son but is not well known in the town of his birth. He became Archbishop of Canterbury, had struggles with the king, like Thomas à Beckett, and is buried in France.
Anne Dodds of Abingdon and District Twin Towns Society is leading a walk on Thursday 21st July, starting at 7.30pm outside St Nicolas’ Church in the Market Place to places in the centre of Abingdon connected with Edmund. The walk will be no more than an hour with stops en route. We will end in St Ethelwold’s Garden with an optional pub visit afterwards. There will be no charge.
