Charter Day at the Museum
Showing off on Charter Day at the Museum
The children of John Mason School, Abingdon, were surprised to find on arrival to the museum galleries, a series of historical figures explaining and exploring the history of late Tudor Abingdon. In the main gallery William and Lady Blacknall and Lady Stonehouse explored the dissolution of the Abbey and Chantries, and development of the town charter. Upstairs the quarrelsome John Blacknall and Sir George Stonehouse argued over their rights to the River Thames, as well as the origins and history of the Monks Map followed by a special opening of the roof for the school pupils.
With excellent feedback and positive comments all round the Museum team are looking forward to another performance for next years Charter Day.
