Following on from last year’s Roman exhibition, we will continue the story of the Abingdon area and its people through the Anglo-Saxon period and give a more detailed context to the significant Anglo-Saxon artefacts in the Museum’s permanent display, such as the rare 7^th century gold ring with glass bead decoration. Excavations have uncovered much about the Saxon’s presence in Abingdon, for example the discovery of a Saxon cemetery on Saxton Road. The exhibition looks at the archaeological evidence and takes a closer look at people’s lives here in the early medieval period.
