Abingdon Michaelmas Fair 2024: Road Closures/Restrictions, all in one handy map…..
The below restrictions apply from 07:00 on Sunday, 6th October to 09:00 on Wednesday, 9th October 2024, unless otherwise stated:
Road Closures (Highlighted in red on Map):
Closed to all vehicles (except emergency services) from mid-day Sunday 6th October until the fair concludes.
A portion of Ock Street will be open to vehicles only between midnight and noon daily, with access and exit via Conduit Road.
Additional Traffic Measures:
Priority over Iron Bridge has been reversed and will be monitored daily
Temporary one-way traffic on Lombard Street (west to east).
The one-way system on St Helen’s Wharf will be temporarily reversed, except for cycles which can travel in both directions.
Alternative Routes (Highlighted in green on Map):
Follow the green routes for alternative access around Abingdon during the fair. These are the best options by car while closures are in place, if you really need to
Abingdon School Access:
From Saturday, 5th October, 6pm: Gates on Conduit Road and Victoria Road will close (blue lines on the map), and the gate on Faringdon Road leading into Park Crescent will open for access. This is for access only and no ‘rat running’ route will be possible!
From Wednesday, 9th October, 8am: The reverse will occur—Conduit Road and Victoria Road gates will reopen, and Faringdon Road access will close.
No Waiting at Any Time Restrictions:
To maintain access for emergency vehicles, the following roads will have a temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction during the fair:
Bostock Road: Both sides, from Mullard Way to Victoria Road.
Edward Street: North side, from Victoria Road to Spring Road.
Mullard Way: Both sides, for its entire length.
Victoria Road: West side, from 40 metres north of Ock Street to Exbourne Road.
Spring Road: West side, from 40 metres north of A415 Marcham Road to Faringdon Road.
Other Key Points:
No vehicle access to the rear car park of Bury Street Shops (between NatWest Bank and Pablo Lounge).
Stay safe and enjoy the fair!
