Abingdon-on-Thames welcomes its new Mayor

On Wednesday evening the town once again holds its traditional Mayor Making Ceremony. The present Mayor, Cllr Samantha Bowring, will leave office and, in a formal ceremony, hand over the chain, robes and duties to a new Mayor elected on the evening by the full council in front of the public.

The evening is also the chance for the outgoing Mayor to thank those who have supported her in her year in office and to give Mayor’s Awards to volunteers, officers and members of clubs and societies who have given outstanding service to the community.
