Hidden just a few footsteps away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre is the Ock Valley Walk. Under a woodland canopy that follows the meandering waters of the River Ock and Sandford Brook, this alternative route into town offers a tranquil walk where Muntjac deer, foxes, carp and, if luck is on your side, even kingfishers can be spotted. Bats will still be hibernating. With several benches along the route, it’s a perfect location to escape. After all, research shows that spending regular time in woodland significantly improves our health and mental wellbeing. So why not take some time to explore this hidden gem that can be accessed from St Helen’s Court, behind West St Helens Car Park.
