Tthe Abingdon Waterways Walk makes a great day out. It’s an eight mile circular walk taking in the heart of Abingdon’s medieval town centre, the charms of the villages of Drayton and Sutton Courtenay, and parts of the Thames Path. Start around mid morning at the free car park at Culham Lock OX14 4NE and you will be in Abingdon-on-Thames just in time to fuel your body with a lunch stop at one of our many pubs and cafes. The Mousehole at the Museum OX14 3HG has good quality tea and coffee at £1 and light meals. and throughout town there are good choices fof place to eat or buy a picnic.
Hit the trail again to reach the village of Sutton Courtenay just as the mid afternoon sun tells you its time for a pub stop, just leaving you with one or two fields to cross to bring you back to the car.
