Abingdon Coronavirus Community Response Group
Please see the below from Abingdon Coronavirus Community Response group:
Abingdon Coronavirus Community Response was established to help the residents of Abingdon support each other through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and ensuing lockdown.
We swiftly developed a network based on more than 400 fantastic volunteers, all neighbours helping neighbours. Our street contacts are supported by 30 volunteer neighbourhood co-ordinators who ensure that requests for support from residents are taken on by their relevant street contact or some in their volunteer team. These requests include help with shopping, collection and delivery of prescriptions and friendly chats.
To begin with, every household received a postcard delivered by a street contact, introducing the scheme. We limit what we offer to “what you might reasonably expect a neighbour to do,” but do our best to signpost to other services if necessary. We work closely with agencies like Abingdon Town Council, Vale of the White Horse district council, Abingdon Foodbank, AbiMeds prescription service and Citizens Advice Bureau. We are not an organisation, just willing volunteers who have come together. If you need help, or know someone who does ,contact us on abingdoncoronaresponse@gmail.com
