There was a great turnout yesterday evening for the Music in the Park event run by Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council. All three thousand tickets were sold, and the lovely weather saw a full house gather with their picnics in the Abbey Grounds.
The audience ranged from 8 months to 80, and fuelled by the twin delights of candy floss and Loose Cannon’s finest ales, they sang along and danced enthusiastically to the various acts including Blues Brothers and Michael Buble tribute acts and local bands the Prisoners of Katriona and Elkie.
The evening was rounded off by the Abingdon Band, accompanied by three choirs, reprising the Last Night of the Proms and the grand finale was the fantastic firework display lighting up the sky above Abbey Meadow.
Music in the Park tickets are now sold out so there should be a great atmosphere tonight at the Abbey Grounds. HAVE A GREAT EVENING!
Abingdon County Hall Museum was officially reopened following the completion of the Heritage Lottery funded refurbishment of the Grade I Listed building by H.R.H. The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO on 8th March 2013
Choose Abingdon Partnership will be holding their AGM earlier than usual this year. Instead of the October date which has been the norm up to now the Partnership are holding a May AGM so that funders and the public can see the report on the financial year 2012-13 and the plans for the present year before they are too far under way. In the early years Choose Abingdon had a three year funding arrangement and a strict year-on-year cycle was not necessary but in the current climate funding is only likely to be a one year commitment and it’s important that the AGM, which is our principal way to communicate our achievements and plans, fits in with the annual financial cycle which our funders have to adhere to.
The AGM will be at the Guildhall on May 21st at 7pm.

Abingdon-on-Thames is a market town that still enjoys the unique atmosphere of a lively market. Our town centre has a lovely Market Places run by the town council and overlooked by the beautiful County Hall.

The Market Place is available for use by local community groups to give out information, who have charitable purposes or who operate on a not-for-profit basis.
