Roundabouts in Abingdon
/in News /by abingdon_adminAbingdon Town Council is aware of the considerable interest in the fate of the monk that has adorned the roundabout at the junction of Marcham Road and Nuffield Way for over 20 years. The Town Council is also aware that the monk statue was placed on the roundabout as part of an advertising campaign by a company that no longer exists. As such the monk was never the property of the Town Council.
The Town Council wants to see this and other roundabouts around Abingdon give a better impression of our town.
Abingdon Town Council has been in discussion with the Oxfordshire County Council, who own the roundabout, to find ways that the Town Council can be allowed to more actively manage both this roundabout and others in Abingdon for the benefit of residents and visitors to our town.
We hope that we will be able to reach an agreement that will allow the Town Council to play its part in ensuring that roundabouts in Abingdon, including the junction where the monk resides, are maintained to a consistently high standard in the future.
